Our Philosophy

Philosophy

At Turning Point™ Institute (TPI) we hold a holistic view of the person as a relational being. Our integrative approach to our training recognises all aspects of the human being including mind, body, emotions and spirit.

Person-Centred

We recognise that all of us live and operate within a particular social and cultural context. Our philosophy is therefore centred around the needs of the client. We believe that clients have the ability to heal themselves and thereby effect change in their lives as active agents in the therapeutic relationship, where the healing takes place. We also recognise the uniqueness of each person and that different approaches are appropriate to the individual client in different situations.

Integrative Approach

Our integrative approach emphasises the development of a relational capacity and is informed by more than one therapeutic modality and is therefore embedded, as our philosophy is, within a humanistic framework that includes Person-Centred (Rogers), Psychosynthesis (Assagioli), Psychoanalysis and the developmental insight of psychodynamic theories. Our philosophy is also rooted in the developmental view of the evolving self. Our cohesive model and our philosophy acknowledge the need for a fluid and flexible attitude at all times.
