Dermot Heslin
H. Dip, MA, MIAHIP, MICP
Skills Tutor/Group Facilitator
Dermot holds a H.Dip in Counselling and Psychotherapy and an M.A. in Psychotherapy from Dublin Business School. Dermot is registered with the Irish Council for Psychotherapy (ICP) and is an accredited member of the Irish Association of Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy (IAHIP). Since becoming accredited, Dermot has completed Level 1 and Level 2 of Sensorimotor Psychotherapy training.
Dermot’s approach is Humanistic and Integrative, with a focus on the body. He has worked in private practice with individuals in Dublin and online since 2015. Prior to joining Turning Point, Dermot spent 4 years as a Stress Response trainer on the Higher Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy in DBS.
Dermot is particularly interested in the ways in which patterns learned in childhood can impact and limit our experience as adults, and in working collaboratively to find new ways of being in the world.
Dermot’s background is in software development. From there, he moved into the non-profit sector, managing an overseas volunteer programme that saw Irish students working as teaching-assistants in India and Kenya. During his time in this role, Dermot became curious about ways to support others through challenging circumstances, and this curiosity eventually led to his training as a psychotherapist.
